Hello everyone, I hope you are having a great spring break. I just want to introduce myself, my name is Todd Slater and I will be one of your three coaches this year. Chad Scholma and Matt Whalen will be the other two coaches helping me out this year as well. We have coached together for a few years now and we just love teaching these young ladies the game of softball. We have a few house keeping things to work talk about first.
1.The year of Covid is still lingering and we are still up in the air on what the protocols that will be in place once the season starts (i.e Mask wearing, covid testing, sharing of equipment). This will probably be a fluid situation, and like Middle School and High School sports always changing. Please be understanding and flexible with us on it.
2.Season Schedule. Our games will be on Mondays and Wednesday at 6:00. The big difference this year for the girls is that we will be traveling to other fields within the District 9 schools. This is really fun for the girls playing against teams from other towns...much better then playing the same team over and over again.
3.Shirts. Please let me know what size your daughters shirt will be. They run small so please just send me a email.
4.Practice. We will start our practice this Monday night (4/12) at 7:00 on field 5 at the Allendale park.
5.Uniforms and equipment. We are going with black pants, black socks and if possible a red belt. The league is suggesting everyone use there own helment, bats, and gloves as we do not have guidance on shared equipment usage from Ottawa County health department yet. The girls will need there own fielding mask this year. That is a little league rule. Also the pitching mound is at 40 feet this year and we use a 12 inch ball. Bats used are to be sanctioned by the little league national rules. You can find that information on the little league website.
Lastly, if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to send me an email. I may not have the answer right away, but I know someone who might.
Thanks again for letting us coaches teach your daughter this great game. The only rules that I have is for the girls to have FUN and create lots of great memories
